Understanding Aikido Etiquette in the Dojo (Bali)

Respect and discipline are core tenets of Aikido. Understanding dojo etiquette is crucial for all students at TERAKOYA DOJO in Bali. These customs ensure a safe and focused training environment for everyone practicing Aikido in Bali.

Entering and Leaving the Dojo

Specific procedures are followed when entering or leaving the tatami (training mat) at our Bali dojo, typically involving a bow to the shomen (front of the dojo) and to the instructor.

Bowing (Rei)

Bowing is a fundamental sign of respect in Aikido. It's performed at various times: towards the shomen, to the instructor, and to training partners before and after practice. This is a key part of Aikido culture in Bali.

Practicing good etiquette enhances your Aikido journey in Bali and shows respect for the art and fellow practitioners.
